Maria E. Soohey, Esquire

Maria E. Soohey joined Ferguson Law Associates in 2010, bringing a strong health care background to the firm, as well as notable expertise in Business Law and Elder Law.

Educational Background

Maria Soohey received a Bachelor of Science in Business and Accounting from the University of Pittsburgh, 1986. 

Maria was admitted to the bar in 1996, having earned her J.D. degree from Duquesne University School of Law, where she was a member of the Duquesne Law Review.

Practice Areas

Maria Soohey serves as General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer to the Aestique Medical Center, a Greensburg area facility noted for its freestanding, multispecialty ambulatory surgical center, plastic surgical practice, and medical day spa. 

Maria's primary areas of practices include Healthcare Law, Business and Corporate Law, Contracts, Regulatory Compliance, Finance, Elder Law and Estate Planning, Employment Law, and School Law.  Her Elder Law practice includes matters related to Medicare and Medicaid, nursing home planning, and preservation of assets.

Elected to the Board of Directors, Westmoreland Bar Association.

Personal 

Maria is a Derry High School graduate and resides in the Latrobe  Area.  She is married to Michael Soohey and has two daughters, Alaina and Katrina.

Maria has served the community in leadership roles at the Board level. 

She is currently Trustee and Treasurer of the Westmoreland Bar Foundation, in which capacity she has helped to secure funding for Foundation programs, along with working to develop investment policies and procedures designed to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.
